MARSHALL ISLANDS VISIT This visit to the Marshall Islands has so far been very well organized for me. Marshall Islands Sec-Gen Terry Sasser is extremely well organized and is very supportive of table tennis. There are 34 participants, all selected by the Table Tennis Association and the National Olympic Committee (who assisted all of them to receive paid leave during the two weeks) are taking part in the Level One Coaching course that started yesterday. At the opening ceremony were the Vice-President of the Marshall Islands (a former table tennis player) and the assistant Minister of Health (a former table tennis player). The Marshall Islands National Olympic Committee have been making preparations for this course for two months and have a very clear Development plan which includes trying to host a major regional event at their new indoor stadium. Marshall Islands Table Tennis Federation have planned the coaching and umpires course as the base on which to build future development. The visit is going very well. |
